Vintage Italian Nove Rose Blue Floral Plates

$38

The blue-painted Nove Rose Italian plates from the 1930s are a beautiful continuation of a long-standing ceramic tradition rooted in the Veneto region. Nove, a town near Bassano del Grappa, has been a hub for ceramics since the 18th century, known for its delicate maiolica and faience work. By the 1930s, Nove artisans blended classical inspiration with emerging Art Deco influences, favoring striking cobalt blue designs on crisp white backgrounds. These plates often featured pastoral scenes, mythological motifs, or intricate floral patterns, echoing both Renaissance majolica and Delftware while embracing a more streamlined, modern aesthetic.

The interwar years saw a revival of handcrafted ceramics in response to industrial production, and Nove’s workshops—like those of Angelo Mazzotti and others—crafted pieces that celebrated both heritage and innovation. Today, these plates are prized for their artistry, representing a golden era of Italian ceramic craftsmanship that bridges tradition and modernity.
